  13. Installing CD-Runner
  14.  
  15.   1. Review the System Requirements to ensure that your system is
  16.      compatible with this product.
  17.   2. Your CD-Runner download file is a self-expanding .zip file. Copy this
  18.      file into an empty installation directory (such as C:\TEMP). NOTE:
  19.      Make sure that your temporary installation directory name does NOT
  20.      include wildcards or special characters! Click on this file from your
  21.      Windows Explorer or Program Manager to create the CD-Runner
  22.      installation files.
  23.   3. From the Windows Explorer or File Manager run install.exe. This will
  24.      verify that all Windows system files required for CD-Runner are
  25.      extant, and up-to-date. Installation will proceed to Setup
  26.      automatically.
  27.   4. You may delete the installation files upon completion of setup.
  28.  
  29. HINT: If you load a CD-ROM (NOT Audio disc) in your drive(s) before
  30. installing CD-Runner, the Setup will automatically choose your drive
  31. letter(s)!

  35. Once you've entered the CD-Runner program, screen-sensitive Help is
  36. available at all times by pressing F1. Both a mouse-sensitive graphic
  37. screen with brief text pop-ups, as well as detailed information will be
  38. displayed.

  43. #1 Mouse! CD-Runner makes maximum possible use of your mouse. Displays are
  44. LOADED with groovy 'hot spots', which when either right- or left-clicked do
  45. all kinds of fun things(which are also available via menus). Feel free to
  46. play. To guide you, note that your mouse pointer will change shape whenever
  47. you guide it over a hot spot. Makes it fast; makes it FUN!

  49. #2 Palette Size? Those of us who run CD-ROM games and Enhanced Video CDs
  50. have long chaffed at having to reset our screen displays to 256-color
  51. 640x480. CD-Runner has a built-in option for playing Enhanced CDs as
  52. stand-alone multimedia files without having to change screen modes. For
  53. gaming, Microsoft has developed a nifty utility called SetRes which loads
  54. to your System Tray and makes this changeover at a single touch. This one
  55. is worth having, and can be downloaded from the Microsoft libraries on
  56. CompuServe and Internet.

  58. #3 Audio CDs - Quick Editing: For quick and easy entering of audio CD
  59. library info, without having to place the CD in the drive for editing:
  60.  
  61.    * Place the CD in the drive with CD-Runner loaded.
  62.    * Using the Library button, enter the album name into the library.
  63.    * You can now go back to the library at any time and enter additional
  64.      album info, without having to enter the CD in the drive.

  66. #4 CD-ROM's - Clear you Windows Desktop: For any CD-ROM applications
  67. registered in the CD-Runner Library, any Windows Program Groups or icons
  68. associated with the programs may be deleted as CD-Runner will automatically
  69. identify and launch your CD. Why clutter up your desktop?

  71. Note: When entering a new CD-ROM that you may already have installed to
  72. your hard drive, it isn't necessary to run the "Install CD-ROM" utility.
  73. Instead, use the "CD-ROM Library" to locate the program on your hard drive
  74. and enter it into the database.

  77. How to Install Your User ID Key After Registering
  78.  
  79. After registering and receiving your CD-Runner User ID key:
  80.  
  81. 1) Copy your emailed User ID Key (id-key.zip) to your CD-Runner directory.
  82. 2) From the File Manager or Explorer, run the register.exe file in your
  83. CD-Runner directory.
  84. 3) That's it. Enjoy!
  85.  
  86. Your User ID Key will work with ALL CD-Runner Version 4.x or 5.x files of 
  87. the same series (16- or 32-bit). To stay up-to-date on upgrades, simply visit
  88. our site regularly and download the current file in your version series.
